As we come to the end of the decade, I wanted to share my personal thoughts on what I believe are the best animated movies from this past decade! However, if the story is what I would qualify as "OK," the visuals are the real sell, the eye-popping frames, concocted by directors Peter Ramsey, Robert Persichetti Jr, and Rodney Rothman and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, has the feel of stepping inside a page-turner. Although widely considered one of the decade’s lesser Studio Ghibli entries, this energetic adaptation of Mary Norton‘s “The Borrowers,” co-written by Hayao Miyazaki and directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (who also directed the Oscar-nominated “When Marnie Was There” a few years later), is still a lovely work that features a wonderful lead character in Arrietty (voiced by Saoirse Ronan in the surprisingly good English dub) and an ingenious design that really allows you to feel like you’ve been shrunken down to the size of a tiny creature. 10 Tangled (7.7) Kicking things off is Disney's 2010 reimagining of Rapunzel.
